What kind of ketchup you can buy without fear? All-Russian Union of consumers “Roskontrol” and specialists of the Federal scientific center for food systems named after V. M. the Hunchback examined the quality of ketchup by purchasing in stores to test seven popular brands.
Roskontrol every year examines the ketchup, sharing the details and results of the audit on its website. This time the experts were checked for level of quality in the brand of Mr. Ricco, Heinz, “Sloboda”, “what you need”, “family secrets”, “Every day” and Fine Life.
As experts explain, the quality of the ketchup depends on the amount of dissolved solids: extra, highest, first and second. The audit showed that the Russian producers incorrectly specify the category of your product, overstating it in their favor. Samples of the ketchup “Every day” and “family secrets” was declared as a product of the highest category, however after the test experts attributed it only to the first category. Ketchup is “just right” they are unable to refer even to the second category. In the production of first and second category, according to them, it is allowed to add preservatives.
Check the starch content of found that brand of ketchup Heinz, Mr. Ricco and Sloboda do not contain this ingredient, in contrast to the other samples. On the packaging the presence of starch producers are not reported.
