Use of aspirin in small doses can help in the treatment of cancer, reports MedicalXpress.
Cardiff University scientists analyzed the medical history 520000 patients with various types of cancer, and about half of them had cancer of the bowel, breast or prostate. It was found that the drug reduced the mortality of patients by 20-30 percent and significantly reduced the probability of transition of cancer cells to other organs.
It is noted that the positive effect of aspirin was observed as in the case of more common and rare forms of cancer.
While scientists point to the limited nature of the study, as it was observational in nature. Experts also stress the need to identify the mechanism of action of the drug on the organism of patients with cancer. In addition, experts remind about the importance of consultation with the doctor before taking any medicines.
