Installed another danger of early menopause

In women facing menopause before age 40, the risk of developing type II diabetes increases by 50%. This is due to the decline of hormones, causing a decrease in the production of insulin.

If a woman had an early menopause before 40 years of age, it is 50% more likely to become ill with diabetes of the second type, as found by scientists from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. They also found that the disappearance of the menses before 45 years of 15% increases the risk of diabetes, compared to those women who enter into menopause in due time. Note that the average time of entry for women in the menopause in Russia is 51, but there is a certain percentage of women who have the ovaries stop producing eggs even before 40.

Menopause is characterized by a sharp decrease in a woman’s body hormone levels of estrogen and progesterone. And now, Greek researchers have found that hormonal decline during menopause may reduce the production of insulin in the body. And type two diabetes just occurs at the moment when the body stops producing insulin, or stops responding to the hormone.

A conclusion of the Greek scientists made on the basis of a meta-analysis of 13 studies involving 191 762 women post-menopausal period, 21 of which 664 were suffering from type II diabetes. This is the first meta-analysis showed that early menopause and premature ovarian failure are associated with increased risk of type II diabetes. (READ MORE)
