Water helps to detect cancer

The use of water molecules formed the basis for a new technology to diagnose cancer at an early stage. The study of Spanish scientists reported Eurekalert.

Scientific experts from the University of the Basque Country was able to establish that on contact with water react in a specific way two antigen that may serve as biomarkers of cancer in the body. According to the researchers, these two types of antigens Tn occur in 90% of cases of cancer, so the diagnosis, to determine the presence of these markers in the blood, very effective.

One of these genes is associated with the amino acid threonine, the second amino acid serine. The authors of the study said that on contact with water molecules react with both the antigen, in this case “one takes a rigid form in the solution, and the second is softened”. According to scientific experts, the new technique makes it possible to determine to what extent is the development of cancer and to find drugs for targeted treatment of tumors.

“A synthetic analogue of antigens can be the basis of new drugs against malignant tumors,” said the researchers.
In particular, in their opinion, such synthetic antigens are launched into the body will cause more intense immune response to the activity of malignant cells.

Previously, as already mentioned Magicforum, scientists proposed a method of diagnosing cancer by saliva or blood.
