Medicated flupirtine can harm the liver in Europe, the decision to discontinue the use of this tool was adopted in February, after which the pharmaceutical companies have started to remove products containing it from the market. Now it became known about company “Veropharm” has decided to withdraw from circulation in the Russian pharmacies analgesic “Ardalan”.
The first evidence of liver damage by flupirtine was registered abroad in 2013. The experts then made recommendations about how to assign this remedy for the treatment of patients with liver problems – however, to fully exploit flupirtine not stopped. In the end, the number of people affected by use of drugs with flupirtine amounted to 537 people, including 23 fatalities.
For 2018, many pharmaceutical companies that supply drugs to the Russian market, announced the intention to cease production of dangerous drugs.
