Use yogurt finally exposed

In the UK analyzed about thousands of types of this dairy products (nine items) and found that almost all of them exceeded the rate of sugar. This is the BBC.

According to experts, most sugar is revealed in the so-called yoghurt-desserts – there’s sugar on average of 16.4 g per 100 g of product. Sweetness of the yogurt-desserts are not inferior to the chocolate mousse and caramel creams.

Second place was awarded to a market category of yoghurts, organic yoghurts – they contain of 13.1 g sugar per 100 g of product. Followed by the “baby yogurt” with their 10.8 g of sugar per 100 g of product. Scientists note that this is equivalent to two cubes of refined sugar, whereas according to the norms of the national health service in the UK, children aged 4 to 6 years old are not recommended to take more than 19 grams of sugar per day; and older children, aged 7 to 10 years – not more than 24 g of sugar per day.

Here is a list of yogurt, sorted according to the presence of sugar:
– Organic – 13,1 g per 100 g;
– Scented – 12 g per 100 g;
Fruit – 11.9 g per 100 g;
– Baby – 10.8 g per 100 g;
– Vegetable – 9,2 g per 100 g;
– Drinking – 9.1 g per 100 g;
– Natural & Greek – 5 g per 100 g

Only 9% of yogurts sold in stores, the amount of sugar per 100 grams of the product amounted to no more than 5 grams, the researchers noted.

Project Manager Bernadette Moore said that parents should be informed about this, because, according to the dietician, many of them “extremely surprised to learn about this amount of sugar”. The expert recommended to buy strictly natural yoghurts and optionally mix them yourself with fruits.
