Mentally ill individuals tend towards genius

American scientists from the University of Iowa put forward the theory that people with mental illness can possess a penchant for genius. Such people, as it turned out, there is high creativity and lateral thinking.

Disease psychological properties such as Asperger’s and dyslexia to dramatically change the brain, the result of these changes can become overwhelming brain activity, the researchers noted. The researchers noted that people diagnosed with them by abnormalities in the brain capable of producing extremely uncommon and original ideas – all because their thinking is not constrained by templates and standards.

Inherent human sanity and logic dramatically reduces the possibility of creating something brilliant, the researchers note. According to them, this “reasonable person” to a large extent influenced by the norms of society, existing stereotypes. When Asperger’s syndrome and dyslexia brain functioning differently, therefore people with these diagnoses do not affect the conventional limiters.

“People with brain injury is remote from the patterns of a society, in contrast to the perfectly healthy. The processes occurring in their minds, they sometimes create an unusual combination of reality”, – said the authors of the project.
Prior to this edition of the Curious Mind, citing research conducted by American scientists, said that the hallmark of genius was the lack of proper sleep and a balanced daily routine. Scientific experts have noted that the disturbance of circadian rhythms is a constant companion up to the gifted genius personalities: from early childhood, highly intelligent people prefer to sleep very late.
