From dysfunction of a sexual nature about today suffers every second man aged 40 to 70 years. Scientists from the US have found another factor of impotence, which was linked to genetics.
On this finding the American experts told the journal PNAS. According to him, the first time scientists have discovered a gene which men develop impotence. His discovery, according to experts, allows to conclude that sexual dysfunction in men partly is of genetic nature
In particular, the researchers found that the appearance of impotence are a mutation of the gene SIM1. It became clear after genetic testing approximately 37 thousand men of middle and old age. Still not managed to find any evidence that some DNA regions may be associated with impotence.
“In total, managed to identify five single mutations, one way or another associated with erectile dysfunction, only one of which was statistically significant. This typo was in the segment of so-called ‘junk’ DNA, not coding proteins, but affect the readability of neighboring genes,” – said the scientists publishing in PNAS.
According to them, they discovered the plot genetic chain results not only from sexual organs, but with a tendency to obesity. Now experts are busy looking for a mechanism to “turn off” the gene that activates physiological mechanisms of impotence. This, in turn, will create the first complete cure of impotence.
