If you balk at stories of “graduations” that include things like “now I’ve got a second-grader!,” okay, admittedly, this is probably not your story. But we had every darn feel in the book when we read Selma Blair’s recent Instagram post, a tribute to her son, Arthur Saint.
The American Crime Story actor posted four gorgeous shots on Thursday, pictures of the two of them from the past 7 and a half years. The post was in honor of Arthur, who is wrapping up first grade and ready to take on the second with his very proud mom by his side.
Blair wrote in the post, “To my son on his last day of first grade. I will hold your hand, I will help hold the light for you. I will lift you up if ever you need me. You are my favorite person and have taught me everything I know about love.”
Blair continued, “I’m so proud of who you are. I can’t wait to reach for your hand. And you will be right here. Soon. Soon. Always, your mom. You are a wonderful person.”
She didn’t stop there (can we relate? Answer: yes, when it comes to our kids, no amount of words is enough), using a series of sweet hashtags and emojis: “arthursaintbleick” “#Fbf” “#givemeyourhand #childrengetolderandimgettingoldertoo” “sotakethislove.” We can’t. But we can. And we will.
Arthur appears often in Blair’s Instagram feed. Blair is obviously a proud mama (and it’s not hard to see why — we’re ready to adopt Arthur):
Blair and her son have been through a lot together. In October, she shared publicly that she had received a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) and has spoken about how her illness has affected her life with Arthur.
“After the MRI, I said, ‘I have something called multiple sclerosis,’” Blair shared with Robin Roberts in February on Good Morning America. “… [He] almost cried and said, ‘Will it kill you?’ And I said, ‘No. I mean, we never know what kills us, Arthur. But this is not the doctor telling me I’m dying. And he was like, ‘Oh, okay!’”
No, you’re crying. We just have some dust in our eye. All at the same time, over here.
