To obtain the desired result, you must visualize the end result, say the researchers.
To participate in the experiment were invited 140 volunteers with overweight, who were divided into two groups. The first group worked with a special technique Functional Imagery Training. Under this method, people get to imagine how they will feel and how to change their lives in the achieved weight loss. The second group worked on the technique of Motivational Interviewing, which meant the conversations with the participants, motivating them to begin to lose weight.
The experiment lasted six months. At the end it turned out that the first group lost an average of 4.11 kg, whereas the second was only 0.74 kg. What is particularly pleasing, the rendering technique has helped people to lose weight and after the experiment. For the six months volunteers from the first group lost additionally of 6.44 kg (people from the second group during this time lost an average of 0.67 kg).
“Many people know that to lose weight you need to eat less and train more, but in many cases people just enough incentive. Visual images associated with weight loss, it is possible to imagine a wide variety, the main thing – that they evoked enough emotion,” said the authors of the project.
