Dishes are ready to blame the steigenen number of Overweight?

The shelves of the super markets are filled with highly processed ready meals. From the Pizza to the bag of soup – about half of the products falls in this category. With the increase in supply of finished dishes as well as the number of Obese people in Germany is increasing. A recent study now shows why: the so-Called ultra-processed foods encourage people to eat more, eat faster, and more weight gain.

In the current investigation by the U.S. National institutes of Health and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, it was found that the consumption of ultra-processed foods has a strong impact on our weight because we eat more of these foods and to take us faster, compared to normal food. Strong weight gain in a short period of time

When people are ultra-consumed processed foods, they took, on average, 500 calories more per day. This has led to increased within just two weeks, two pounds (1 kg) of weight. The food intake and the health of the Participants were investigated in the study. During the investigation, each group received from the Participants three meals per day, which also included drinks and Snacks.

A healthy diet led to weight loss

For the study, half of the Participants adopted a diet of ultra-processed foods. The other half of the Participants consumed a diet which was rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grain products. The meals were counted as balanced as possible, and every calorie was. In the study period, the Participants of the group took off with the healthy and balanced diet weight.

Ultra-processed foods bring people more to eat

The authors of the study were quite surprised by this result, because they had actually assumed that, if both forms of the components of the diet such as sugar, fat, carbs, Protein, and sodium are matched to each other, people by ultra-processed food would have no reason to eat more. It could, however, be noted that the people consumed in the group with ultra-processed food is actually a lot more calories. This led to increased weight and body fat.

From this, the researchers concluded that processed foods in obesity’s favor. In the study, the so-called NOVA System was used for food classification, the food according to their taste and improving to be the additives, shelf – life extending preservatives, as well as their packaging and marketing characteristics classified. Both of the studied forms of diet contained the same amount of calories, sugar, fiber, fat, and carbohydrates, and the Participants could eat as much or as little as you wanted. After two weeks, the groups switched their diet and it is the same pattern of Overeating and weight gain were observed.

Further research is needed

Both groups indicated that they liked the food, suggesting that something other than the taste that caused the difference. Further research will deal in the future with the understanding of this cause. The increased food intake could be a consequence of certain additives which interfere with, for example, the release of hunger hormones. The investigation shows how difficult it is for less wealthy people may be to adhere to dietary recommendations. The processed food cost a third less than the healthy diet with unprocessed foods. (as)
