Scientists have found how exercise helps strengthen memory

Researchers from Columbia University have concluded that the hormone osteocalcin, which is produced by bone cells, has a beneficial effect on memory processes, reports MedicalXpress.

With age, the amount of osteocalcin in the body decreases. However, according to doctors, its level can be maintained with moderate loads such as walking.

Previously, scientists have found that physical activity promotes the release of the protein RbAp48 preventing memory loss in the elderly.

In the new study, biologists have proven that it is the interaction of RbAp48 with osteocalcine is a key factor influencing the improvement of memory.

“Almost every person with age, face symptoms of disorders of memory, so it’s important to understand the causes and to find ways of easing this process,” said Columbia University Professor Eric Kandel.
