According to the BBC, Félicité died at her flat in west London after police were called to her residence following reports of a woman in cardiac arrest around noon on Wednesday.

A statement from Scotland Yard, obtained by the BBC, confirmed Félicité’s death:”A female believed to be age 18 was pronounced dead at the scene,” the statement said, adding that “a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.”

The BBC also reports that Louis was told of Félicité’s death on Wednesday and cancelled an appearance at Comic Relief, a UK-based charity.

According to TMZ sources, Félicité had no warning signs and no prior history of heart trouble, though she did reportedly suffer from sciatica. Félicité also shared on social media in January that she had stopped drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes. Félicité posted to Instagram just days before her death.

Louis and Félicité—along with their five other siblings—lost their mother, Johannah Deakin, to leukemia in 2016, according to CNN. And just last week, Louis released a song called Two of Us, in memory of his mother, per an interview with Radio 1 Newsbeat.

“It was something I needed to get off my chest,” said Louis, per the BBC.
“I used to lean on my mum for a lot of things – anytime I needed advice on something she would be the first call I made.”

Louis also said it was “tough” to play the new song for his sisters—including Félicité—because he “didn’t want them to get caught up in the sadness.”

Here’s to hoping everyone gives Louis and the rest of his family the space to grieve during this time.
