As all avid shoppers know, one of the greatest places to do some online purchasing is none other than Amazon. The Internet superstore recently added a bridal shop, a pretty fantastic plant shop, and some high-quality groceries after joining forces with Whole Foods. Its seemingly endless categories and product selection were even expanded last year when it devised a way for you to actually have a closet like Cher's from Clueless. (No, really.) And now, it's getting ready to launch what is essentially the summertime version of Black Friday — the glorious event known as Amazon Prime Day.
For the uninitiated, Amazon Prime Day starts on Monday, July 16 at 3 p.m. ET, and will last for a little over a day (36 hours to be exact), wrapping up on July 18. Throughout this block of time, the website will offer more than 100,000 deals (yes, 100,000), ranging from sale prices on various items to discounts on some of Amazon's own products, like the Kindle and Echo Dot.
There's just one catch: you have to be an Amazon Prime member to enjoy the benefits of this glorious day. Luckily, Amazon lets you sign up anytime during the event itself — and it even applies to people who just sign up for a free trial. Meaning that there's not a lot of commitment involved.
So, just to recap, here are some simple steps to ensure that your Amazon Prime Day experience is the best it can be:
Step 1: Make sure you sign up for Amazon Prime. It's very easy to sign up, trust us. Amazon even allows you to try it out for free for 30 days or, if you're a student, you can get a six-month free trial. Just head over to Amazon's website and follow its on-site instructions.
Step 2: Download the Amazon App to track the deals, and even view them before they're live. The app works for both Androids and iPhones.
Step 3: Read through its Prime Day Insider Guide in order to make sure you're fully prepared. The guide will let you know the ins and outs of what kind of deals you can expect and how to make the most of the 36 hours.
Step 4: Stretch and hydrate. (I mean, it's always a good idea to do both.)
Step 5: Shop your heart out. And don't forget to make a list and stock up on bulk items. Remember that it's only a good deal if you were already planning on buying it. Otherwise, you're just spending unnecessary money.
If last year's deals are any indication of what will be on sale this time around, you're going to want to shop early because some of the best ones go quickly. For instance, last year Amazon offered a $100 gift card for much less than its retail value, which was one of the first deals to sell out. A little birdie also told us that they'll be some pretty fantastic deals on luxury beauty brands, up to 35 percent off hair care products, and 30 percent off deals on select fashion brands, too.
Our suggestion is to bookmark Allure's Amazon Prime Day coverage and our Amazon storefront to stay up-to-date on all the best products to shop during those 36 hours. We'll be tracking down our favorites and making sure you can make the most of this summertime shopping holiday.
