Want a life partner was a good father for a child, do not look for men-“macho”. The more testosterone a man, the less he is interested in even their own offspring, writes the journal Hormones and Behavior.
That hormones influence the behavior of men who became fathers in the pages of this publication, said us researchers from the University of Notre Dame in the United States. According to their conclusion, the lower men levels of the sex hormone testosterone, the better he copes with the responsibilities of a parent.
In the study, researchers from the US have involved 300 men who just became fathers (among them were those who became a father for the first time, and those who have already had children). Experts have established that most often took the newborn baby in her arms and cared for those men, the blood which had recorded a particularly large amount of the stress hormone cortisol and extremely low – testosterone. This pattern persisted at least for three months after the babies are born.
According to experts, too high testosterone level makes the man to enter the period of caring for a newborn “feminine”, that is, to care for a child, tinkering with it, to keep on hand. Cortisol, being a stress hormone, on the contrary, exhorts to fear for the offspring. Scientists say that this is the first study, when science is studying hormonal reorganization in men after the birth of children – usually researchers are interested in the hormones of pregnant women and mothers.
Earlier Magicforum wrote that scientists have identified a surprising cause of higher mortality among the representatives of masculine gender.
