Thank you for your question! It can be stressful when you notice something about your body that wasn’t there before, especially in your genital area, but it’s a really good idea to ask about it if you’re ever unsure.
It seems very possible you have a relatively common condition called pearly penile papules (PPP), which is something that happens in normal and healthy boys and men. Fortunately, it is neither dangerous nor contagious. PPP is not the result of a sexually transmitted infection (STI), but if a person has ever had unprotected sex, there are other conditions, such as genital warts, which can look somewhat similar. It’s important that you AVOID popping or picking at the bumps, and DO NOT attempt to use any over the counter “wart remover” treatments because these medicines are not meant to be used on the sensitive skin of your penis and can cause severe irritation and scarring. Anytime you notice lumps or bumps in your genital area, we highly recommend that you make an appointment with your health care provider and get checked out!
