Type II diabetes will be cured completely

Scientists have proved the possibility of recovery of functional insulin cells in victims of type II diabetes. This means that the disease can be fully cured.

Due to the blocking of VDAC1 protein in producing insulin the cells can restore their normal functionality in patients with diabetes of the second type. During preclinical experiments, the researchers also showed the possibility of preventing this very common metabolic disease. Note that Russia covers an epidemic of diabetes, which is associated with a sedentary lifestyle, obesity and unhealthy diets, the majority of the population. A similar situation exists in many other countries, so that mankind urgently needs new ways to prevent and control diabetes, which is considered incurable.

Researchers from Lund University in Sweden believe that an active substance capable of suppressing protein VDAC1, may in the future play a crucial role in the creation of the first drug, completely cure type II diabetes. The goal is to use this substance, victims of diabetes mellitus, which was recently diagnosed. In their case, recovery of the functional insulinproducing beta cells seems more likely.

But even more promising approach seems the use of these drugs for people who suffer from prediabetes. This strategy should theoretically protect patients from developing full-fledged type II diabetes. However, this study was small in scale, and its results need to confirm in a larger trial.
