The human brain is programmed to laziness

Although the benefits of an active lifestyle lately talking more and more, studies show: the sport has been less and less people. Scientists have decided to understand what leads to this paradox and discovered a curious feature of how the brain responds to physical activity, told the journal neuropsychologia is.

The authors of this paper concluded that the human brain tends to avoid physical activity – he prefers that the body was in relax mode. In this, they were able to verify by conducting an experiment involving 29 people aged 19 to 25 years.

During the tests the volunteers were sitting in front of computers, on the monitor, which randomly had an image of physical activity or rest. The volunteers moved across the screen stickman – in the task they have to quickly move the man to the image of physical activity, avoiding rest, or, on the contrary, the picture of relaxation, not getting in the symbols of physical activity.

EEG to track the brain activity of participants in these moments, showed that the brains of people negatively reacted to the alienation of man from the pictures the surroundings, while in the presence of man among the rest, on the contrary, increased the productivity of the brain. The brain “likes” that the body was in a relaxed state, because in such a situation the body’s resources are directed to its maintenance, said the researchers.
