Scientists from Harvard University in USA presented a method, which can be an alternative to chemotherapy – in this case, in contrast, is not associated with serious side effects. A new mechanism of treatment is aimed at activation of genes.
The authors of the new project worked on finding ways that would help to implement the cancer therapy due to activationmode mechanisms of the organism itself. Science has long known that cancer can be treated by stimulating the production of suppressor genes that block abnormal cell division characteristic of cancer.
But until now the existence this method of treatment was confirmed only in theory – in practice, the idea never worked. Experts at Harvard have been able to develop a drug that helps the body naturally fight tumors.
For several years scientists studied a gene that would be included in the body immune reactions that stop the growth of tumor and destroys its cells. These searches were not in vain, experts have discovered that exposure on the gene PTEN allows you to block the development of tumors without chemotherapy.
“The series of tests proved that using polarized “launcher” nanoparticles, bringing them into cancer cells, activate products-suppressor gene PTEN, suppressing tumor growth”,- said the authors.
At slowpractice research Professor Bruce Zetter, scientists tested the experimental drug stabilizes the activity of tumor cells and returns them in loopwhole condition. This method according to the scientist can be an independent method of treatment of cancer or Supplement existing ones.
