In Russia changing the rules of transporting patients by ambulance crews

Will soon come into force new rules that ambulance teams will be required to transport patients to a facility where doctors can actually provide them with comprehensive assistance. Earlier patients sought to take to the nearest health facilities.

Appropriate changes in rules of delivery of the patients included in the order of Ministry of health, which is published on the Federal portal of projects of normative legal acts. In accordance with the changed rules, ambulance crews will be required to deliver patients to the nearest hospitals, and institutions acting “in accordance with the orders of rendering of medical aid according to separate types, profiles, diseases or conditions”.

In addition, the document of the Ministry of health extends the functions of a doctor of an emergency medical service of the Department of sanitary-and-evacuation center for disaster medicine. On diagnosis and treatment, doctors must now conduct remote consultations with specialists from other medical organizations.

The problem of efficient delivery of patients by ambulance is well known not only in our country. In the UK, the local healthcare system is facing great difficulties because of shortage of staff. As already mentioned Magicforum, thousands of people who call for an ambulance by phone, have to wait for the arrival of the medical staff until the next day.
