Today in Ukraine officially registered more than 144 thousand HIV-positive people

It is estimated that this number could reach 241 thousand. The Ukrainian office of the Fund is now engaged in 33 thousand patients with HIV. The majority of patients served in public health facilities, and only about 1000 people will receive services in only Ukraine clinic AHF Ukraine Test Treat, which opened in Odessa in December 2017 in partnership with the Odessa regional centre of socially important diseases.

Despite the Fund’s efforts, Ukraine remains a leader among Eastern European countries for the spread of HIV infection. Zoe Shabarov, head of the AHF Europe Bureau, said that the progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS is undoubtedly there, but the Foundation and the society as a whole, there remains a lot of work in this way:

Thinking about this wonderful milestone in the 30 year history of AHF, I see the faces of the mothers who can now live to see their children finish school and begin their adult life; the happy couple, who understand that their loved ones can and will live a full life; children in the arms of their parents, who will continue to live with her treatment and care. I also see doctors and nurses who are proud of their work in the fight against HIV and AIDS, AHF Europe team in eight countries, as well as the entire family AHF, which is proud of its daily hard work for noble cause of combating HIV/AIDS. We’re proud to move in with the understanding that we all have a lot to do to overcome HIV and AIDS worldwide.
