A ten-centimeter-long knife, which is in the middle of the head and you are not aware of first? What sounds absurd is what happened to a man in South Africa actually. The 25-Year-old was, apparently, got heavily drunk in a fight. The next Morning he complained of headache and eye pain…
Injuries from stabbings in South Africa today, unfortunately, nothing out of the ordinary. That patients notice their wounds until after hours, however. A particularly curious case of the “British Medical Journal now reports”. A 25-year-old mixed drunk in a dispute – and shortly thereafter, a ten-centimeter-long knife stuck in her head.
The blade sat so deep in his skull, from the outside, only her silver-shimmering end was to be seen under the left eye of the South Africans. The handle was already canceled.
First of all, the young man did not even want to the hospital
The young man was not intoxicated the night of the accident, apparently so strong, that he noticed the injury at first. He went, therefore, even in the hospital once home, to lay down, as he told. Because except headache and pain in movements of the eye he had, according to their own statements, no complaints. Friends brought him therefore, only in the Morning to the local hospital from Germiston in the South African province of Gauteng, East of Johannesburg.

The x-ray picture showed the result of the nightly stabbing, to which the young man can’t remember, but must have occurred: A knife sticking in his skull diagonally from his left eye almost to the right ear. Because the hospital had no CT scanner for further diagnostics, had to be transferred the man to another hospital in Johannesburg.
More luck than anything else: a man can go home without permanent damage
Due to an Allergy to a contrast agent, however, there was also there to further complications and delays. Doctors were able to remove the fixed knife, therefore, only days later. 84 hours, the knife in the head of the South African stuck to leave, however, without permanent injury.
The young man must have an army of guardian angels or just incredible luck: The knife had injured vessels, not major arteries or other blood. And also all surrounding tissues remained unharmed, since the blade was stuck so firmly in the skull bone that they could not move. Two days later, the South Africans could leave the hospital already.
It would have been a ball, I’d be dead
Of his fortune, he is apparently well aware of. Due to the incident today, I can look differently at life, he says. So that I share my story, I don’t want to call to play the hero, if your counterpart has a knife or a gun. It would have been a bullet that would be shot through my head, I would have been on the same day dead.
