Autism is a condition that causes individuals to act differently to other people, and they may have difficulties with communication and understanding. If you think that you might be autistic, you should speak to a doctor about having an autism test.

Autism isn’t an illness or a disease; it simply means that your brain works in a different way to other people.

It doesn’t develop over time. If you’re autistic, you have autism you’re entire life.

If you have autism, you may find it harder to communicate with other people.

You may also find it more difficult to understand how other people think or feel, while also being susceptible to anxiety over unfamiliar circumstances.

Is there a test for autism?

If you think that you may be autistic, you should consider asking for an autism assessment.

Speak to a doctor or health professional about your symptoms, and ask them if they think it’s a good idea for you to have an autism test.

If they suspect that you may be autistic, the doctor will refer you to an autism specialist, who will carry out the test.

An autism test is the only definitive way to reveal whether you, or your child, has autism.

What does the autism test entail?

An autism assessment is carried out by a series of specialists.

You, or your child, will be asked about your difficulties as well as your symptoms.

The specialists will also watch how you interact with other people.

They may even speak to people that you know or live with, as well as your GP.

You may have to wait a few months for an autism assessment, as the waiting list can be quite long, however.

“If you or your child have signs of autism, the next step is to talk to someone about it,” said the NHS.

“An assessment is done by autism specialists. It’s the only way to find out if you or your child are autistic.

“At the end of the assessment, you’ll be given a report saying if you or your child are autistic.

“It’s not always easy to get an autism assessment. Waiting times can also be very long.”

It’s not entirely clear what causes autism, but it can affect people in the same family.

Autism is definitely not caused by vaccines, diet, or bad parenting.

If you think you may be autistic, it’s crucial that you speak to a doctor.
