What fish do not eat during pregnancy

Experts in the field of health has long recommended that pregnant and nursing women to abandon the use of fish with high mercury content. But what levels of mercury are potentially dangerous, and what varieties of fish can harm the child?

Levels of mercury were calculated using data from the FDA. The report States that pregnant and nursing women should avoid the following fish species: kapelnik, shark, swordfish, holostea, bigeye tuna, Marlin, king mackerel.

Fish with low mercury content include most popular varieties.

Two or three times a week on your table should appear anchovies, mackerel, perch, butterfish, catfish, cod, flounder, hake, herring, mullet, salmon, sardines, scallops, shrimp, smelt, squid or trout. Once a week you can afford carp, sea and ocean perch, halibut, white tuna.

The FDA States that 50% of pregnant women are eating less fish and seafood than recommended. The fish remain an extremely useful product due to the large amount of protein and healthy fats. These nutrients promote growth and normal development of the child.
