Infertility due to domestic chemicals?
The fertility of dogs seems to be in the budget, widely-used chemicals is reduced. Much worse, however, is that men are also affected by these effects.
The scientists from the Nottingham University discovered in their recent study that chemicals in our house to keep the fertility of dogs and men reduce. The doctors published the results of their study in the English scientific journal “Scientific Reports”.
Fertility decreases
Previous studies had already shown that the number of human sperm decreases cells dramatically. There was a worldwide decline in sperm quality by 50 percent in the last 80 years. In dogs, similar effects could be observed. This suggests that certain artificial chemicals can trigger a true infertility crisis. To test their theory, researchers exposed end of the Nottingham University samples of human and dog sperm two in the household occurring chemicals. They studied the effects of PCB153 and DEHP, which occurs, for example, in carpets, floors, Sofas, clothes and toys. The researchers found that exposure to daily concentrations in the laboratory, the same harmful effect on sperm of human and dog. The exposure reduced the swimming ability and damaged their DNA.
Harmful chemicals in consumer goods of daily needs
This new study supports the Theory that domestic dogs are actually a kind of mirror for the reproduction of waste of men. It has been shown that certain chemicals, which frequently occur in our home environment and our work, may be for the decline of sperm quality is the responsibility of both humans and occurs in dogs that are in the same environment. Hormone-disrupting chemicals, such as, for example, the in this study highlighted phthalate, DEHP, has been associated for many years with a reduction in male fertility, according to the research team. These chemicals, however, are still used in daily consumer goods that are found everywhere in our households.
Further research is needed
Male infertility linked to increased DNA damage in sperm. The scientists suspect that the loss and damage in dogs, since the animals live in the same home environment. Critics of the research work to find fault, however, that laboratory tests are not always real life to reflect. The current study show that two artificial substances can damage sperm in the laboratory, however, must be exercised in interpreting these results cautiously. Because laboratory results can be far removed from real life. There is still more research to this topic is therefore necessary.
Everyday chemicals need to be more strictly regulated
The latest research shows once again that we need a faster, stronger and more comprehensive regulation of chemicals to protect people and animals in front of their health damaging properties. Already some time ago, a study had revealed that flame retardant chemicals in everyday items our children poison. (as)
