The authorities intend to achieve over the next five years the consumption of alcohol, and its availability in Russia has decreased. Exact figures of consumption of alcoholic beverages in the country, as the plans of the Ministry of health to reduce the rate of alcohol consumption, said Deputy Minister of health of Russia Oleg Salagay.
In particular, Salagai said that the rate of alcohol consumption per year per person now stands at 10 liters. The Ministry of health expects to bring it to the level of 9 liters per year and no more. The sale of alcohol during this time also reduced, by approximately 10%, said Deputy Minister of health.
In early November, during a speech at the forum “Community” Oleg Salagai said that the people of Russia are leading in the world list in the number of deaths from alcohol and tobacco. He explained that the global dimension of the order of 20% mortality in humans associated with the consumption of tobacco and about 10% mortality associated with alcohol consumption – whereas in Russia, the mortality rate correlates with the abuse of alcohol and tobacco, is significantly higher.
As a measure of struggle with alcoholism has recently been proposed to remove alcoholic beverages from shops located inside housing estates. The authors believe that alcohol should be sold only at special points remote from densely populated areas.
