New data about the danger of sugar substitutes

Israeli scientists representing the University named after Ben-Gurion came to the conclusion that the use of sweeteners detrimental effect on the intestinal microflora. The results of their research published by Science Alert.

The authors of the study examined the effects on the body popular artificial sweeteners: Sucralose, saccharin, Acesulfame, neotame and advantage. Researchers found that the sweeteners act on the bowels as toxins and slow down the division of bacteria.

It turned out that even a small amount of sugar substitutes can harm the intestinal microbiome. For pronounced negative effect in relation to bowel a day is enough to drink just two cups of coffee with added sugar substitute.

“We have identified a toxic effect on intestinal bacteria even when the concentration of artificial sweetener 1 mg/ml”, noted scientific experts.
Sweeteners are often used as a sugar substitute by diabetics or nutritionists to minimize the level of glucose in the blood. Previous studies have shown that sugar substitutes can be one of the causes of disorders in the digestive system – with their constant use of the human body ceases to associate sweet taste with calorie intake and feeling of fullness, resulting in a sharply increased risk of obesity.
