People with depression needed a hot bath

Receiving a hot bath regularly twice a week treats depressive disorders. German scientists have established that hot water is twice more effective than physical activity, which are considered very useful in the treatment of depression.

Staff Frejburgskuû University conducted experiments with the participation of 45 people by age (average) 48 years who were diagnosed with depression, moderate or severe. Half of the participants in the form of the therapeutic course twice a week for an hour, took a hot bath. The other half twice a week aerobics for 40-45 minutes.

As a result, scientists noted that in the group taking a hot bath (40 degrees centigrade) there was “a significant improvement in the mental state of the participants.” Experts were involved in the standard scale of Hamilton to assess the severity of symptoms of depression. It in people taking a bath, rates of depression decreased by six points. In the group aerobics they were down by three points.

Note that baths were taken by participants during the day. As a result, scientists have evaluated this type of therapy, how “readily available method of clinically-relevant improvement in the state if depressive disorder is achieved within two weeks.” According to them, the hot tubs in the daytime helps to restore the normal diurnal temperature rhythm is often disturbed in people with depression.
