The heart muscle pumps blood to all of the organs in the body so that every cell gets enough oxygen. If your heart isn’t working right, you may have one of more of the following symptoms:
- Chest pain when you exercise
- Unexplained dizziness
- Trouble catching your breath
- The color of your hands, arms, feet, or legs might change and look bluish to purplish
- You might also feel irregular heart beats or pounding in your chest (called palpitations) or have an irregular pulse.
If you have any of these symptoms, you should get checked by your primary care provider (doctor or nurse) right away or go to your nearest emergency room. These symptoms can be due to things other than heart problems.
