Gout is not caused by poor diet. Researchers have refuted the old myth, proving that in most cases the culprit of this disease is genetics.
For several centuries, scientists believed that gout is caused by incorrect nutrition. However, the researchers found that this painful kind of arthritis is not related to food. And if people drink too much beer, wine and red meat, the risk of development of his gout grows by only 1%. In most cases gout develops under the influence of genetics. Such insights new Zealand scientists from the University of Otago made on the basis of analysis of 16 760 adults of European descent living in the United States.
We all took blood tests to determine the level of urate. Urate is a salt formed from uric acid produced in the moment when our body breaks down the components called purines. Purines are produced by the body and are found naturally in almost all foods, but above all is their concentration in a liver, mackerel and beer. With the increased level of urate that is observed in the case of hyperuricemia in humans is fixed, the risk of developing gout.
Scientists carefully analyzed what it fed on volunteers, committing 63 different food groups. It turned out that genetics determines 23% of the volume of urate in the human body, and nutrition to this is almost irrelevant. Gout occurs every 40-th Russian, which is the total number of victims in our country of approximately 3.2 million people. This is a very painful kind of arthritis, difficult to treat. (READ MORE)
