When Chrissy Teigen and John Legend announced in June that they had welcomed baby number four via surrogate — when their daughter Esti was just five months old — everyone was surprised. Well, except for Gwen Stefani. She had an incredible premonition about her The Voice co-star’s family, which ended up being eerily accurate.
Stefani and Legend shared the amazing story in a new interview with TODAY.com. Back in Dec. 2022, Legend and former Voice coach Camila Cabello went to Stefani and husband Blake Shelton’s house in Los Angelos. The night before the party, Teigen said she couldn’t make it, and Stefani had a dream about her that night.
The “Hollaback Girl” singer shared the dream with Legend the next day. “She was like, ‘You know, I just had a dream about seeing Chrissy holding two babies that were kind of like the same age but they were like not exactly twins?’” Legend told TODAY. “I hadn’t told anyone we were having a baby with a surrogate in June. And Gwen had a dream for seeing this whole thing happen!”
Isn’t that wild? Legend said that Stefani was “so weirded out” by the dream. “She was like, ‘You had two babies that kind of look like they were twins, but they were like different sizes and just a little not the same?’” he said. “And it really came true.”
I would be weirded out too if I dreamed something like that about my friends. How could she have known that they would have two babies only five months apart? She must have been a psychic in a former life — or she just has a gift of prophecy!
Stefani, who is mom to Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 10, with ex Gavin Rossdale, said that Legend was so surprised by her dream. “He just looked at me like, ‘Are you serious, right now?’” she said with a laugh. Stefani also relayed that Voice coach Niall Horan asked her to predict if his next flight was going to be delayed. Clearly, her abilities don’t work on demand, dude!
The “All of Me” singer is also dad to daughter Luna, 7, and son Miles, 5, with Teigen. After the birth of baby Wren in June, Teigen wrote a heartfelt note about her family.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted four children,” she said. “As a little girl, 2 glow worms and 2 cabbage patch dolls were perpetually in my arms, helping me stir in my pretend kitchen, watching Alf with me. We’d sleep together nightly, each getting the same amount of kisses as to not make the others jealous. My mom always searched for the Pound Puppy with 4 pups in her pouch, having no qualms about opening and peeking inside before purchasing.”
She added, “Our hearts, and our home, are officially full. And to our Jack [who died of a pregnancy complication at 20 weeks in Sept. 2020], we know both their angel kisses are from you.”
