Walmart is also enforcing new prescription policies on opioid medications as part of a larger initiative to combat opioid abuse in the United States. In an official statement, Walmart explains two new policies that will affect those trying to fill a prescription opioid. First, Walmart will now limit initial acute opioid prescriptions to a maximum of seven days. Second, starting in 2020, Walmart will also require that all prescriptions for controlled substances be submitted electronically.
