Fish oil or omega-3 is a valuable source of vitamin D, whose benefits to enhance health and improve immunity recently proclaimed increasingly. But is it really necessary for all, as it is recommended to consume omega-3?
A nutritionist from the University of East Anglia Lee Hooper skeptical appreciated the statement that polyunsaturated fatty acids prolong people’s lives. In his opinion, the benefits of these supplements are exaggerated and are not universal.
“The doctor who recommends the patient fish oil must be carefully considered before giving advice,” said Professor Lee Hooper.
For five years she studied the data 120 thousand patients from different parts of the world, partly suffering from heart disease, and partly healthy. Half these people took supplements with omega-3.
After analyzing data gathered over the five years of data, the scientist came to the conclusion that omega-3 in large and small doses, “has little effect on life expectancy and very little effect on the probability of cardiovascular disease and myocardial infarction”.
However, he said, harm from the use of such additives for health either. The only loss incurred by the patient, upotreblenii fat, is the money he spends for its purchase, has shared his opinion of the British researcher.
