Selma Blair just gave her followers another look into her life with multiple sclerosis. This time, it involves how she gets around on a daily basis.
The actress, 46, who revealed her diagnosis at the end of last year, posted a photo of herself on Instagram riding a pedal-less walking bike that has made her life with MS so much easier.
“I got places to go!” Selma wrote in the photo’s caption. “Sometimes I can’t do it on my own two feet. Sometimes I have to sit down and roll with the punches.”
According to her post, Selma first saw the bike, called an Alinker, at her MS doctor’s office and decided she wanted one. And after Selma tested out a friend’s Alinker, actress Jamie Lynn Sigler (who also has MS) gifted selma her “very own” walking bike.

I got places to go! Sometimes I can’t do it on my own two feet. Sometimes I have to sit down and roll with the punches. I saw this #alinker at my #ms doctor’s office and wanted one. My friend @megsquinn23 loaned me hers 💛, but then #jamielynnsigler gifted me my very own. Anyone wanna join me on a #walkabletrike ride. I love being able to move at the speed of sound 😂 . Totally here for this innovation @the_alinker_world 🌟. #wekeepon #noshameinmygame . #coolinvention #mobilityaid 🥇 #activateyourbrain

According to the Alinker’s website, the bike is designed “for everyone who wants to maintain an active life regardless of their movement abilities/disabilities.”
But, according to the website, the bike isn’t only for mobility issues. The Alinker also helps differently abled people with social inclusion (it helps users sit upright and at eye-level with their companions) and their emotional well-being.
Overall, Selma says she’s “totally here for” the innovative bike. “I love being able to move at the speed of sound,” she wrote.
The actress also uses a cane for balance, which she opened up about on Instagram (and used on the red carpet at this year’s Vanity Fair Oscars party). “I usually hold onto someone’s arm if possible. But I need a balance. A cane,” Selma wrote in a previous Instagram post. She also revealed in the comments that her cane helps alert others to her condition, as well: “My cane is also to alert people I may trip (likely) or fall or slur,” she wrote.
FYI: Balance issues are is very common among those with MS. The autoimmune disease affects everyone differently, but many people can experience fatigue, difficulty walking, numbness or tingling, and dizziness and vertigo, according to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Clearly, with its bright yellow color, the walking bike only adds to Selma’s killer style, and I, for one, can’t wait to see more photos shoots of Selma with her Alinker soon.
