Kate Middleton Reveals Sweet Letters Her Children Wrote To “Granny Diana”

Amidst the turmoil that has ensued following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tell-all interview with Oprah, the Royal Family is still carrying on, business as usual. While a number of issues raised during the discussion on Oprah proved shocking and are being investigated, the rest of the royal family is doing all they can to put the saga behind them. With Mother’s Day taking place this weekend in the United Kingdom, the Duchess of Cambridge shared just how her children are paying homage to the late Princess Diana.

Honouring their grandmother for Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis made cards for their “Granny”. An instagram post from Kensington Royal revealed the tradition, which sees the children gift the cards to their father, Prince William, and his brother, Prince Harry, who lost their mother in 1997.

The caption accompanying the post reads: “This year Mother’s Day will be different once again. Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again. But for those experiencing bereavement, today may be particularly challenging.”

It continued: “Each year on Mother’s Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make cards remembering their Granny, Diana, for William. Whatever your circumstances, we are thinking of you this Mother’s Day.”

In his letter, seven-year-old Prince George wrote: “Dear Granny Diana, Happy mothers day. I love you very much and think of you always. Sending you lots of love.”

Five-year-old Princess Charlotte decorated a heart and wrote, “I am thinking of you on Mother’s Day. I love you very much. Papa is missing you. Lots of love.” Two-year-old Prince Louis wrote his name and decorated his own heart with a number of insect stickers.

Of course, the young royals were sure to celebrate their own mother, Kate Middleton, with a sweet treat. “Celebrating two other special mothers today,” the Instagram post read.

The Cambridge family shared a photo of a cake baked by George, Charlotte, and Louis, which was served on a heart-shaped plate and decorated with pipe cleaners. The second image included a touching throwback photo of the Duchess with her own mother, Carole Middleton.
