Scientists have identified a physiological link between the goosebumps arising on the skin, and a feeling of happiness. It is reported by the Independent newspaper.
The goal set by researchers was to understand what the difference is between those who are familiar with this condition (for example, when listening to your favorite music), and those who usually are not experiencing. The project was implemented in the period of summer music festivals. During the performance of live music scientists have been trying to fix the difference in the physiological reactions of visitors who came to the concerts.
It turned out that those listeners who do during favorite songs get goosebumps, usually have better health than the impassive listeners. And, of course, was that listeners with goosebumps on average, significantly happier.
As scholars have noted, goosebumps has experienced more than half (55%) participants in the experiment. Also interestingly, this effect was dominated by women. Scientists believe that this is due to the greater emotionality of the fairer sex when listening to music compared to men. In General, people experiencing chills were also more agreeable and more sensitive in everyday life. This is also stated by the scholars.
According to Robin Murphy, one of the initiators of the project – the results obtained are very important because it proves that the goose can serve as an important indicator of well-being.
