October 10, since 1992, all over the world celebrate world mental health Day.
According to the world health organization, mental disorders are the second most common on earth group of diseases. Ahead of their only cardiovascular disease. In this regard, the share of mental illness falls to 40% of all chronic disease and about 20% of lost years of healthy life.
In Ukraine the prevalence of mental illness is one of the highest, but checked the data and figures about this is not. This is due to the fact that is not taken into account the incidence and the number of requests for psychiatric help. And often official institutions, patients and their families bypassed.
Attitudes in Ukraine towards the mentally ill
The more important issue is the attitude of society in Ukraine to the mentally ill. Especially hard impact on children with mental disorders and their parents. This is often the reason for the refusal of official supervision of the child, training in specialized schools. It is also not always patients and their families remain satisfied with the level provided in state psychiatric services. In the case of developmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, a timely start of the correction substantially affects the ability of socialization and prevention of disability of the child.
Social activity is of great importance in the durability of remission in patients with schizophrenia. Those who were able to find a permanent job, have a family, can live a full life, a long time staying in remission.
