Diabetes can be detected 20 years before diagnosis

Signs of type II diabetes have more than 20 years before diagnosis. Scientists warn that patients with this metabolic disease requires early treatment.

Diabetes of the second type can manifest itself almost 20 years before it officially diagnosed for the patient. Dangerously high levels of blood sugar and insulin resistance are observed in the two decades prior to the installation of diagnosis, the study showed scientists from the Japanese Aizawa Hospital with the participation of just over 27 thousand people. The authors of this study believe that certain changes in lifestyle may be needed immediately after sugar levels in humans will begin to grow. And that early intervention may even prevent the development of diabetes.

11, Japanese scientists were monitoring 27 392 older people who at the beginning of the study diabetes was not. During the observations the disease is diagnosed in more than 1 000 people. The results showed that in diabetic patients more than 10 years before diagnosis noted increased body mass index, blood sugar levels and insulin resistance. And all these indicators have become much more pronounced. This was the case of measurements of blood sugar in a state of hunger.

The results of the study by Japanese scientists shows that doctors can design an effective tool for early diagnosis of pre-diabetes for many years before the development of this disease. Theoretically, if this system becomes widespread, the incidence of diabetes is significantly reduced. In the meantime, the diabetes becomes a real epidemic for the Russians, as our compatriots every year are gaining weight and moving less and less. (READ MORE)
