We chatted to Renee about being red carpet ready and her obsession with wellness.
What does your fitness routine look like?
Right now it’s quite the routine! I used to be more relaxed about it, but I decided to challenge myself and try something new and I’m now doing a transformation program at UP fitness. I’ve never been a fan of gyms and I’ve struggled with personal training in the past but seeing the results and pushing my body to its limits has become quite exciting. I now train three to four times a week with a personal trainer incorporating weights and machines. I try to get to hot yoga once or twice a week as I feel it’s really important to have that balance.
Has it changed since living in LA?
Yes! Working out is really such a part of the lifestyle in LA and I think being on camera every day is also a pretty good incentive to stay in shape.
Is there anything you miss about Australia?
Everything! To start with my family and friends and the stunning beaches. The warm clean water and fresh air – I really notice it as soon as I touch down in Australia.
What does your day on a plate look like?
I usually start my day with a yummy smoothie or special tonic that I make – I like to use all types of things like ashwaganda, reishi, cordyceps, vital proteins collagen powder etc. For lunch I usually have a big salad or fish and vegetables and dinner is usually the same. I snack on dark chocolate and almond butter throughout the day.
Where are your go-to health hot spots in LA?
Erewhon Market is my go-to spot for smoothies, salads or meals on the go it’s a great little organic supermarket and I’m pretty sure I spend half my pay check there…. I also love to eat at Gratitude Cafe, Croft Alley and Blue Stone Lane for a good Aussie Fix.
What inspired you to become a health coach and what does the job involve?
I was struggling a lot with digestive issues and knew that I needed to change my diet. While doing so I started to learn so much, and friends and people around me were asking me questions I really didn’t have the answers to. I decided to enrol in the course at IIN to gain a better understanding of health and wellness. It really was for my own benefit and so I could back up the discoveries I was already making and help me make better choices in the long run.
If we were to rifle through your handbag right now what beauty products would we find?
My bag is like Mary Poppins bag… never ending. I always carry a rose water face mist and a face oil– right now I’m loving True Botanicals radiance oil. I have a lot of little RMS tubs in there, the concealer and living luminzer are my favs, Honest Beauty Magic Balm, Lucas Pawaw Ointment for the lips, Hourglass Radiant Bronze Bronzer, Luma Beauty Lip and Cheek Tint, and LUMIRA The Vow Perfume Oil.
What’s the best bit of health/fitness/beauty advice you’ve learned working so closely with celebs?
That health and fitness should be part of your lifestyle. Diets and cleanses may work but they’re not ever lasting – you need to make it a part of your life so it’s sustainable and fun. Surround yourself with people who inspire you to live a healthy and happy life because what’s within always shows on the outside, and life’s moments are better when shared.
