A special foam to seal gunshot wounds

Created a special unique foam that can seal a gunshot wound. It is believed that this particular structure will save soldiers the first 15 minutes after receiving the wound.

The research was conducted at the medical school of the University of Pennsylvania by order of the Ministry of defense. Contract calculated for three years, involves the development of special active foam, that will cover even the most severe wound, stop the bleeding and to carry out disinfection of the wound. For this work the scientists the government allocated 1.4 million dollars.

The developed foam was interesting not only for military, but for police and medics. It is believed that the foam is able to seal a gunshot wound can be of great help in the work of the ambulance, where staff are confronted daily with situations where there are only a few minutes to save human life, and the police, they will be able to provide first aid to people before arrival of physicians. The scientists said that the foam has absorbed the composition, allowing the human body through time after the “sealing” wounds to recycle it. If after a severe injury will require surgery, the surgeons will be able by heating a frozen gel extract it from the wound, further surgical intervention.

As is well known to Magicforum, this is not the first time scientists are trying to move away from traditional methods of suturing wounds, proposing an alternative method of treatment. Last year Australian research staff proposed to close the wound, a special protein glue sealant.
