Fortunately, a vitamin B12 deficiency, comes with symptoms to look out for.
Tinnitus is one of them.
If you’re unsure if you have tinnitus, go into a quiet room with no noise.
If you can still hear a ringing, whooshing, hissing or any sound that isn’t coming from the room then it is recommended you see your GP.

Before you do, there are other symptoms of a B12 deficiency to look out for.
Are you suffering from fatigue, also known as extreme tiredness?
Do you feel lethargic, like you feel a complete lack of energy despite not having done anything that would make you feel tired?
These are two symptoms of a B12 deficiency.
There are more to look out for.
Are you feeling faint, do you have a headache and are you experiencing heart palpitations?
These, and pale skin, loss of appetite and unexplained weight loss, are all general symptoms of a vitamin B12 deficiency.
Other symptoms include a sore and red tongue, mouth ulcers, disturbed vision could all be physiological symptoms.
Behavioural symptoms include a decline in your mental abilities and changes in the way you behave, think and feel.
Although that last symptom can be caused by non-health related matters, a dramatic change could signal a serious condition rather than a change in party allegiances.
Treatments for a vitamin B12 deficiency include changing your diet to include vitamin B12 tablets or eating foods high in it such as meat, dairy, eggs and fish like salmon and cod.
A course of injections of complicated sounding chemicals hydroxocobalamin and cyanocobalamin are also possible treatments that you may be prescribed until your symptoms improve.
