Every second teenager in Russia will have 35 obesity

Growing number of children who are overweight, and nearly half full of teenagers runs the risk of the years to turn into adults with obvious obesity. This forecast was made by the Russian Ministry of health.

Every second teenager overweight at risk of 35 years to be diagnosed with obesity – such an opinion was shared in the course of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, the Director of the National medical center for preventive medicine, Russian Ministry of health, chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of health therapy and General practice Drapkina.

According to Drapkin, one of the most serious health threats due to excess weight in children and adolescents is atherosclerosis. This violation degraded the condition of the vascular tissue, and this can lead to the development of cardiovascular disease at an early age, said the doctor.

Drapkina expressed that it is important to prevent the emergence of excess weight in early life, as “the basis is laid in childhood”.

“If 12-year-old boy, has an elevated body mass index, then he has a 50% chance that in 35 years he is a fat man,” warned the representative of the Ministry of health.
Conducted in the U.S. the study showed that the overweight children in the future face problems in intellectual development – they have the worse memory and spatial thinking.
