How Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan Are Adjusting to Parenthood

Getting into the groove! Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry became first-time parents on May 6, and they’re already adjusting to their new roles.

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, has “really taken to motherhood,” a source tells Us Weekly exclusively in this week’s issue. “She’s so soft and gentle with Archie.”

As for the Duke of Sussex, 34, he has “been a very hands-on dad,” the insider adds. “He’s on diaper duty!”

The royal pair revealed their son had arrived with an Instagram statement earlier this month. “We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.,” the couple wrote at the time. “The duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives..”

While the Suits alum’s mom, Doria Ragland, was in the U.K. for the birth of her grandchild, the yoga instructor, 62, has since returned to her home in Los Angeles. She gave Harry and Meghan “a lot of parenting dos and don’ts,” the source tells Us.

That being said, another insider tells Us that the new parents still “plan to raise Archie the way that they want to.”

A source told Us exclusively last week that the former actress “likes to do things her way” when it comes to raising her son, adding: “She’s a very strong woman who wants to use her role to modernize the monarchy, which is one of the reasons she and Harry decided to reject a title for Archie. They want their son to lead a normal life.”
