Duchess Meghan's Sister Samantha Markle Speaks Out After Royal Baby's Birth

Samantha Markle’s speaking out! The Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry welcomed their royal baby on Monday, May 6, and the royal’s estranged half-sister has something to say about it.

Markle told DailyMail TV on Wednesday, May 8, that she believes Archie will grow up “to be an exceptional man,” and shared that she hopes Meghan will reach out to their father, Thomas Markle, as “life is too short.”

She added: “Well I love it! I’m already an aunt and am lucky enough to have Thomas and Tyler as my nephews.”

However, she couldn’t help but get a slight dig in, telling the outlet that the ball is in the new mom’s court when it comes to reaching out. “‘What I think is incredible is that it’s a great moment historically and although the adults have a lot of water under the bridge, I would really like to see everyone reach out,” she said. “We’ve extended the olive branch and now it is Meghan’s turn.”

Five months after their May 2018 wedding in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the Duke, 34, and Duchess of Sussex, 37, confirmed that they were expecting their first child together.

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” Kensington Palace said in the October 2018 statement. “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

Meghan celebrated her pregnancy with a star-studded baby shower in February 2019 with Amal Clooney, Serena Williams and other friends.

That same month, George Clooney spoke up about the backlash the new royal had been facing — and Samantha, 54, was not having it.

It all started when the Ocean’s Eleven actor, 57, said, “They’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere. … [She’s] a woman who is seven months pregnant, and she is being pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was, and it’s history repeating itself. And we’ve seen how that ends.”

The Oscar winner added, in regards to the letter the Mail on Sunday published that Meghan had allegedly written to Thomas Markle: “You’re taking a letter from a daughter to a father and broadcasting it everywhere,” Clooney said. “She’s getting a raw deal there. It’s irresponsible. I’m sort of surprised by that.”

Samantha’s response? “Hey Looney Clooney! Your lawyer wife should have taught you not to make statements without full facts,” the Into the Shadows of the Duchess author tweeted at the time. “I doubt #GeorgeClooney would ghost his mother for no legitimate reason. Be quiet Georgie.”
