Evidence in favor of physical activity for brain scientists found before. Swedish researchers believe that such activity affects the severity of post-stroke phenomena.

The staff of Gothenburg’s University analyzed data from 2,300 stroke patients: they studied the peculiarities of the daily diet, habits and other aspects that can influence deviations in the functions of the blood vessels of the brain.

“We found that the main risk factor in the development of the most severe forms of stroke has been the lack of physical activity and sedentary lifestyle,” stated the authors of the project.
According to their data, patients existing in conditions of immobility, bleeding in the brain have occurred on average 1.2 times more often.

Scientists believe that inactivity contributes to the lack of oxygen in body cells due to sluggish circulation. The researchers said that in cases when the body’s cells do not receive a constant influx of oxygen, they are destroyed mitochondria, and such destruction entails malfunctions in the cell and ultimately their death.

“Even short anoxia turns serious consequences. Such transformations occur both during the “big” stroke, and less serious problems with the blood vessels of the brain,” stated Swedish experts.
